Interim Chief Operating Officer – COO (m/f) – Automotive supply industry
Bring operational leadership, business performance and delivery into alignment.
The assignment and starting situation
An automotive supplier in Bavaria is strengthening operational management during a period of organisational change. We are looking for an Interim COO who leads across functions and turns competing priorities into decisions. Production, supply chain and related functions need a coordinated agenda. You bring their leaders together, challenge priorities and make sure decisions do not fall into gaps between responsibilities.
Your brief
You take operational leadership within the agreed scope. The assignment combines a sound assessment with a prioritised improvement programme and clear leadership routines. Commercial effects, delivery performance and organisational resilience are considered together. You give functional leaders direction and support implementation as circumstances change.
Your responsibilities
- Translate business priorities and the current situation into an operational agenda.
- Make the links between cost, quality, delivery and capacity visible.
- Align functional leaders on decisions and actions.
- Lead change within live operations and assess its effects.
- Prepare a handover covering leadership routines, decisions and outstanding issues.
- Connect operational action plans with financial assessment and review dependencies between the individual programmes.
Your experience
- Experience as a COO, operational managing director or operations leader with a comparable scope.
- A strong track record in operational management, business performance and change leadership.
- Sound judgement and the ability to align different functions around shared priorities.
- Business-fluent German and English.
Your scope of responsibility
You work within an explicitly agreed mandate. Leadership scope, budget responsibility and decision authority are defined in the briefing. The title alone does not grant unrestricted powers. What matters is taking ownership, making decisions transparent and involving the appropriate stakeholders promptly when priorities conflict.
What should remain after your assignment
The intended outcome is a shared operating agenda, visible progress and a leadership organisation that follows decisions through. At handover, accountable leaders should understand what continues, where risks remain and which decisions come next. Unsupported performance promises are no substitute for a dependable starting baseline.
