Interim Site Director (m/f) – Contract logistics
Lead a site where customer commitments and operational reality need to come together.
The assignment and starting situation
A contract logistics business in the Hamburg and Bremen region needs temporary site leadership during an organisational transition. The priorities are dependable service, clear responsibilities and a shared understanding of customer requirements. You connect the realities of the site with wider business objectives, leading across functions and ensuring that resource, process and priority decisions rest on a transparent basis.
Your brief
You take site leadership within the agreed scope and develop a clear operating agenda with local managers. You assess capacity, interfaces and escalation routes while strengthening coordination with central functions. Customer requirements become workable operational priorities without overlooking risk, quality expectations or the demands placed on the organisation.
Your responsibilities
- Assess site organisation, resources and performance requirements.
- Clarify responsibilities and collaboration between local functions.
- Connect operational decisions with wider business objectives.
- Implement priority changes with local leaders.
- Support continuity through documented decisions and an orderly handover.
- Align service requirements with the relevant customer account owners and turn them into clear decisions for the site organisation.
Your experience
- Site leadership experience with cross-functional accountability.
- Skills in operational management, organisational development and stakeholder management.
- Ability to connect local challenges with wider business objectives.
- Business-fluent German, very good English.
Your scope of responsibility
You work within an explicitly agreed mandate. Leadership scope, budget responsibility and decision authority are defined in the briefing. The title alone does not grant unrestricted powers. What matters is taking ownership, making decisions transparent and involving the appropriate stakeholders promptly when priorities conflict.
What should remain after your assignment
The handover should leave clear leadership, transparent performance information and dependable accountability. Ongoing actions, customer discussions and significant risks are documented so that local management can sustain improvements and respond promptly when performance deviates from expectations.
