Connect functions that perform individually and need to deliver better together.

Interim assignment with a clientReference number: 7187186

The assignment and starting situation

An electronics manufacturer in Baden-Württemberg is developing the way its operational functions work together. This assignment is for an experienced operations leader who can align production, planning and logistics around shared performance objectives. The focus is the management of the agreed operational units. You investigate unclear handovers, conflicting priorities and constraints that become visible too late, working with the relevant leaders on practical solutions.

Your brief

Your remit is a coordinated operating approach for the functions in scope. You assess how requirements, capacity and delivery commitments are connected, then establish a focused improvement programme. You make interfaces visible and help leaders solve problems together rather than passing them to the next function.

Your responsibilities

  • Assess performance and constraints across the functions in scope.
  • Translate objectives into specific actions with the relevant leaders.
  • Improve interfaces between production, planning, logistics or other agreed units.
  • Assess progress using agreed indicators and prepare decisions.
  • Hand over responsibilities and ongoing improvements to the continuing organisation.
  • Create a shared cadence for capacity decisions and assess whether local improvements unintentionally create problems elsewhere.

Your experience

  • Director- or VP-level leadership experience in operations or a comparable function.
  • Experience managing across functions and delivering operational improvement programmes.
  • Ability to combine demanding performance objectives with effective collaboration.
  • Business-fluent German and English.

Your scope of responsibility

You work within an explicitly agreed mandate. Leadership scope, budget responsibility and decision authority are defined in the briefing. The title alone does not grant unrestricted powers. What matters is taking ownership, making decisions transparent and involving the appropriate stakeholders promptly when priorities conflict.

What should remain after your assignment

By handover, performance objectives, escalation paths and responsibilities should be clear. Improvements are assessed using consistent measures and transferred to line management. What matters is not the number of initiatives launched, but whether the agreed ways of working are used and interfaces operate reliably.
