The assignment and starting situation

A consumer goods company in the Rhine-Main region is redesigning cross-functional supply chain management. It is seeking an Interim CSCO who can connect demand, capacity, inventory and delivery performance through a shared decision framework. Your perspective goes beyond individual functions. You make the effects of local decisions on the wider supply chain visible and develop a clear agenda for the transition with accountable leaders.

Your brief

You lead the supply chain within the agreed scope and strengthen integrated planning. The brief combines leadership, structure and delivery: planning assumptions become testable, trade-offs transparent and actions clearly owned. With sales, operations and finance, you define where decisions are made and which dependable information is needed to support them.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop objectives and a management approach for the agreed supply chain scope.
  • Assess planning processes connecting demand, capacity and supply.
  • Analyse inventory, delivery and risk together and prioritise actions.
  • Align leaders across the supply chain on a coordinated approach.
  • Document changes and decision frameworks so the organisation can sustain progress.
  • Build a regular decision process with sales, operations and finance for demand changes and capacity conflicts.

Your experience

  • Experience as a CSCO, VP Supply Chain or in a comparable cross-functional leadership role.
  • Expertise in integrated planning and the commercial dynamics of the supply chain.
  • Experience transforming or stabilising complex supply chains.
  • Business-fluent German and English.

Your scope of responsibility

You work within an explicitly agreed mandate. Leadership scope, budget responsibility and decision authority are defined in the briefing. The title alone does not grant unrestricted powers. What matters is taking ownership, making decisions transparent and involving the appropriate stakeholders promptly when priorities conflict.

What should remain after your assignment

The intended outcome is a coordinated planning and management approach that continues after the assignment. Handover covers clear responsibilities, documented scenarios and a transparent view of inventory, capacity and delivery risks. Progress is assessed collectively rather than improving one measure at the expense of another function.
