Indirect Category Manager (m/f) – Retail and Logistics
Turn fragmented demand into a clear category strategy.
Your role
We are recruiting an Indirect Category Manager for a retail and logistics company in Central Germany. You bring visibility to services and requirements spread across different business functions. Potential categories include facilities management, IT and external services; the precise allocation will be discussed during the process. You connect internal stakeholders and suppliers to develop solutions that make commercial sense and are actually adopted in daily operations.
Your responsibilities
- Analyse spend, contracts and suppliers to develop prioritised category strategies.
- Clarify requirements with internal stakeholders and challenge scope and opportunities to consolidate demand.
- Lead sourcing events for services and indirect requirements using transparent evaluation criteria.
- Negotiate terms, statements of work and appropriate service quality agreements.
- Support the introduction of suppliers or contracts and coordinate workable transitions with stakeholders.
- Monitor contract dates, adoption and supplier performance, making commercial outcomes transparent.
What you bring
- At least four years in procurement, including relevant experience with indirect categories or services.
- Confidence managing sourcing events, negotiating contracts and comparing different service proposals.
- The ability to understand requirements across functions and build shared solutions.
- An analytical approach to spend and contract data, with clear stakeholder communication.
- Very good German, good English and willingness to travel for approximately 10% of working time, mainly within Germany.
Your opportunity to make an impact
You make procurement effective where many small decisions add up to significant impact. Your opportunity lies in connecting data, clearly defined services and strong stakeholder relationships. A successful sourcing event does not end with a signature: you care whether people use the agreement and receive the service they were promised. This is a chance to make indirect procurement a credible professional partner that improves how services are bought and managed across the business.
Your working arrangements
- Industry: Retail and logistics.
- Region: Central Germany.
- Contract: Permanent.
- Weekly hours: 38.5 hours.
- Start: As soon as possible or by agreement.
- Working model: Up to 60% remote, with agreed site visits.
- Benefits: 30 days annual leave; flexible hours; category management and negotiation training; company pension.
