Understand the component. Challenge the cost. Build a better sourcing solution.

Position with a client companyReference number: 8812374

Your role

We are recruiting a Technical Buyer for a medical technology company in Baden-Württemberg. The role connects engineering requirements with commercial decisions, focusing on precision components, assemblies and close collaboration with engineering, quality and suppliers. You engage with specifications early, rather than waiting until the end of development to request prices. Your work helps make designs commercially viable to source and supports technical changes throughout the product lifecycle.

Your responsibilities

  • Turn engineering requirements into clear sourcing documentation with development and quality teams.
  • Obtain quotations for components and assemblies, comparing processes, cost structures and delivery terms.
  • Identify manufacturing partners and support their technical and commercial evaluation.
  • Negotiate prices, tooling costs and contract terms with the product lifecycle in mind.
  • Support sampling and engineering changes from a procurement perspective and align milestones with stakeholders.
  • Develop alternative sourcing options while maintaining focus on quality requirements and traceable decisions.

What you bring

  • At least three years in technical procurement, ideally in medical technology or another demanding industrial environment.
  • Technical understanding gained through vocational training, a degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Confidence reading technical documentation and curiosity about manufacturing processes and cost drivers.
  • Independent negotiation experience and precise, dependable collaboration across functions.
  • Very good German, good English and willingness to travel within Europe for approximately 10% of working time.

Your opportunity to make an impact

You work where an engineering idea becomes a dependable sourcing solution. Your opportunity is to involve suppliers early, challenge quotations intelligently and explain alternatives clearly. Success is not limited to better prices: it also means robust handovers, documented decisions and fewer avoidable misunderstandings between procurement, engineering and quality. You help the team recognise commercial consequences while there is still time to influence the design.

Your working arrangements

  • Industry: Medical technology.
  • Region: Baden-Württemberg.
  • Contract: Permanent.
  • Weekly hours: 40 hours.
  • Start: By agreement.
  • Working model: Up to 40% remote, depending on project commitments.
  • Benefits: 30 days annual leave; flexible hours; technical training; company pension.
