Head of Strategic Procurement (m/f) – Energy and Environmental Technology
Build a sourcing strategy for projects that need to work for the long term.
Your role
We are looking for a Head of Strategic Procurement for an energy and environmental technology company in the Rhine-Main region. You connect international supply markets with the needs of a technical project business. The focus is on robust sourcing decisions, early supplier involvement and a team that turns individual requirements into a shared procurement agenda. You look beyond the next award to consider capacity, commercial risk and the long-term development of the supply base.
Your responsibilities
- Develop an international sourcing strategy and align categories with project and business requirements.
- Lead strategic procurement and develop the team’s methods and professional capabilities.
- Consolidate recurring requirements and establish suitable framework agreements for project delivery.
- Develop strategic supplier relationships and assess capacity and dependencies ahead of demand.
- Work early with project management and engineering, bringing sourcing considerations into decisions.
- Prepare complex awards and negotiations, making commercial effects and risks transparent.
What you bring
- At least seven years in strategic procurement and demonstrated leadership experience.
- Experience in technical project business, ideally energy, environmental technology or plant engineering.
- Confidence in international negotiations, category strategies and supplier relationship development.
- The ability to connect long-term goals with project deadlines and competing stakeholder priorities.
- Business-fluent German and English, with willingness to travel internationally for approximately 20% of working time.
Your opportunity to make an impact
You can position strategic procurement as an early partner to project teams. Your contribution is a function that anticipates requirements instead of responding only once specifications are complete. You bring consistency to recurring decisions while allowing room for project-specific solutions. Impact comes when your team develops better options and works with engineering and project managers to put them into practice, rather than leaving a strategy at presentation stage.
Your working arrangements
- Industry: Energy and environmental technology.
- Region: Rhine-Main region.
- Contract: Permanent.
- Weekly hours: 40 hours.
- Start: By agreement.
- Working model: Up to 50% remote, aligned with projects and the team.
- Benefits: 30 days annual leave; professional and leadership development; flexible hours; company pension.
