Interim Procurement Transformation Lead (m/f) – Retail and logistics
Make procurement change work in practice, including the processes and AI behind it.
The assignment and starting situation
A retail and logistics business in Berlin-Brandenburg wants to develop procurement processes, responsibilities and digital ways of working. It is seeking an Interim Procurement Transformation Lead who connects the target model with delivery. You combine procurement expertise with change leadership and a practical view of technology. AI may form part of specific use cases, but it needs a clear purpose, suitable data and explicit human accountability.
Your brief
You structure the transformation programme into deliverable workstreams and coordinate procurement, stakeholders and IT. You prioritise process improvements, support suitable pilots and prepare decisions on adoption or adjustment. Data access, accountability and operational handover are considered early. Client data is used only within explicitly approved boundaries; no particular system or AI product is assumed.
Your responsibilities
- Clarify procurement’s starting situation and target model with the responsible leaders.
- Translate change initiatives into workstreams, dependencies and decision points.
- Involve teams and stakeholders in developing new processes and ways of working.
- Assess digital or AI initiatives within the agreed transformation scope.
- Track delivery, adoption and handover of the new approach.
- Define business acceptance criteria, human approval steps and a clear transition to operations for digital and AI pilots.
Your experience
- Experience in procurement transformation and cross-functional programme management.
- Understanding of procurement processes, organisational design and change management.
- Ability to combine a clear vision with pragmatic delivery and stakeholder alignment.
- Business-fluent German and English.
Your scope of responsibility
You work within an explicitly agreed mandate. Leadership scope, budget responsibility and decision authority are defined in the briefing. The title alone does not grant unrestricted powers. What matters is taking ownership, making decisions transparent and involving the appropriate stakeholders promptly when priorities conflict.
What should remain after your assignment
The intended outcome is adopted ways of working, clear process ownership and properly evaluated digital use cases. Handover covers operation, training, outstanding risks and further development. A pilot is not a completed transformation: the organisation must understand, use and take responsibility for the new solution.
